Smartwatches have become synonymous with fitness today, and for good reason. They can track our health and exercise better than any device, and when paired with a smartphone, they are really unstoppable in the fitness space. But that isn’t the only thing smartwatches are good for today. Many people just don’t realize it, but you can do so much more with smartwatches than just keep track of your health.
Today, let’s take a quick look at five different smartwatch uses that have nothing to do with health.
1. It Is a Watch
So many people forget that first and foremost, a smartwatch is, well, a watch. Shocking isn’t it! That’s right. You can use it to tell time and check the date just like you can a regular watch. On top of that, you can program it with different time zones if you are traveling and even alter the watch faces for different moods and situations.
2. Emails and Messaging
One of my personal favorite smartwatch uses are the email and messaging notifications. You see, you can set up your watch to display all your text messages and even your emails on your wrist. While some will even let you respond, others only let you check the messages, so double check what your watch can do with your manufacturer. Still, I love getting them right on my wrist. With a quick glance I can figure out if I need to dig out my phone or not, no matter what I may be doing.
3. Update Your Calendar
Need to check and update that calendar but don’t want to dig out your smartphone? No problem at all. With a smartwatch, you can check your appointments and update your calendar right from your wrist. You can even setup to receive notifications via your watch so you never have to worry about missing a meeting ever again.
4. GPS Functions
No one likes to get lost, so why not use the GPS functions on your smartwatch. Now GPS isn’t on every smartwatch, so make sure the one you choose comes with it before you buy. Still, if it has it, you can get turn by turn directions right on your wrist as you drive. So there will be no excuses for being late because you got lost ever again.
5. Portable Remote Control
Believe it or not, you have a portable remote control right on your wrist. You can use it to control your smartphone and even some Internet of Things devices as well. At the same time, you can use it to queue up movies and music so you don’t have to dig into your pocket for a little bit of entertainment.
I must admit that this barely scratches the service of the power of smartwatches. Really they can do so much more, depending on the watch you choose. I suggest you do your homework and take a look at our guides in order to figure out which watch will work best for you.
